Job summary

Southern Illinois Healthcare (SIH) is seeking an experienced registered nurse to provide professional nursing care for patients across SIH units. The role involves assessing needs, planning care with a multidisciplinary team, and delivering compassionate, patient-centered care.

The position requires an Illinois RN license, CPR/BLS, ACLS/PALS, and ongoing certifications including TNCC/TNS and ECRN as timing permits. The role may involve float across units to ensure quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Current Illinois Registered Nurse license.
• Current CPR/BLS Card.
• Current ACLS card (within 6 months of hire).
• Current ACLS & PALS card (within 6 months of hire).
• TNCC or TNS (within 1 year of hire or residency graduation) - required effective 6/2026
• ECRN (within 24 months of hire or residency graduation) - required effective 6/2026
• ACLS, Fetal Monitoring – Monitoring, & NRP (within 6 months of hire)
• NRP (within 6 months of hire)
• NRP & PALS (within 6 months of hire)

Responsibilities

• Assess patients to determine mental, physical, and spiritual needs
• Establish a compassionate environment to provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patient and families
• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates an individual plan of care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary health care team.
• Provide health teaching and counseling to promote, attain, and maintain the optimum health level of patients
• Demonstrate ability to use clinical judgement in conjunction with critical thinking to recognize, act upon, and report changes in patient condition.
• Complete, accurate and timely documentation in patient medical record
• Provide input into the development of policies and procedures to support patient safety and quality of care
• Supervision and delegation responsibilities of licensed practical nurse and/or unlicensed assistant personnel
• Serve as an advocate for the patient by communicating and collaborating with other health service professionals
• Timely completion of required education, competencies, and licensure.
• Float to other SIH nursing units within competency level
