Job summary

Southern Illinois Healthcare is seeking a registered nurse to provide professional nursing care for SIH patients across multiple units. The role includes patient assessment, care planning, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality outcomes.

The position requires an Illinois RN license, CPR/BLS, ACLS (and related certifications within specified timeframes), and successful completion of required unit rotations including critical care areas.

Qualifications

• Current Illinois Registered Nurse license required.
• CPR/BLS certification required.
• ACLS within 6 months of hire.
• ACLS & PALS within 6 months of hire.
• TNCC or TNS required by 6/2026.
• ECRN within 24 months of hire.
• NRP within 6 months of hire and related certifications.
• Fetal Monitoring – Monitoring, & NRP within 6 months of hire.
• NRP & PALS within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients to determine mental, physical, and spiritual needs.
• Provide compassionate environment for emotional support to patients and families.
• Plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care with the healthcare team.
• Provide health teaching and counseling to promote optimal health.
• Use clinical judgement and critical thinking to respond to changes in patient condition.
• Document timely and accurately in the medical record.
• Contribute to policy/procedure development for patient safety and quality of care.
• Supervise licensed practical nurses and unlicensed personnel as needed.
• Advocate for patients by collaborating with health professionals.
• Float to other SIH nursing units within competency.
