Job summary

Health Advocates Network, Inc. seeks a Registered Nurse (RN) for our Commerce, CA facility.

The role involves evaluating and delivering nursing care to adolescents in a secure setting, with responsibilities including intake screenings, medication administration, and coordinated care with medical and mental health teams. The position requires CA RN licensure, BLS certification, and experience in a juvenile detention environment.

Qualifications

• Current, valid CA RN license in good standing.
• Minimum 1 year RN in-patient experience in a secure juvenile detention facility.
• AHA BLS Certification.
• MAB or CPI.
• LA City Fire and Life Safety Card (must be LA City).
• Must complete the LA County Employee Health Clearance before assignment start date.
• Copy of PSV from the appropriate licensing board or verification agency, if required.
• Copy of all current required certifications and compliance documents (e.g., BLS, N95 fit test, TB test).

Responsibilities

• RNs will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for adolescents with acute and chronic medical conditions, behavioral health concerns, substance use disorders, and developmental needs.
• RNs will conduct intake health screenings, administer medications and treatments, respond to medical emergencies, monitor youth in medical observation, coordinate care with physicians and mental health professionals, maintain accurate health records, and provide age-appropriate health information.
• Individuals should be comfortable working in a locked forensic environment with frequent interactions with law enforcement.

Shift Details:

• 8-Hours Shift

• Evenings, Weekends and Holidays

• 40-Hours/week

Nursing Specialty: Correctional (Preferred Juvenile Correctional)

RN Duties & Responsibilities:

Minimum Qualifications

• Current, valid, and unrestrictedCA license/certification in good standing, as required for the position.

• Minimum of one (1) year recent experience as a Registered Nurse in-patient experience within a secure juvenile detention facility

• AHA BLS Certification

• MAB or CPI

• LA City Fire and Life Safety Card (must be LA City)

• Must complete the LA County Employee Health Clearance before assignment start date

• Copy of current, completedPrimary Source Verification (PSV) from the appropriate licensing board or verification agency, if required.

• Copy of all current required certifications and compliance documents (e.g., .BLS, N95 fit test, immunization records, TB test, or other client-specific requirements).
