Job summary

Allegheny Health Network's Allegheny General Hospital Cardiac ICU in Pittsburgh invites an experienced RN to join our full-time night shift team. The unit operates 72 hours every two weeks with rotating weekends and holidays, and offers a dynamic, high-acuity cardiac care environment.

The cardiac ICU cares for patients with complex conditions using advanced devices and therapies, requiring PA RN licensure. BSN and supervisory experience are preferred as part of the role.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree Nursing or relevant experience/education per company policy.
• Current PA RN licensure or multi-state licensure via eNLC.
• Preferred BSN with 3 years’ clinical specialty and supervisory experience, certs in specialty

THE UNIT: The Allegheny General Cardiac ICU is 16 beds with all single occupancy rooms. The Unit provides high acuity medical treatment for optimization of the heart and sees a patient population including cardiogenic shock, post-cardiac arrests, STEMIs, advanced heart failure, and electrophysiology. Nurses are trained to provide complex cardiac care to patients with Swan-Ganz Catheters, intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP), Impella Devices, Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD), as well as pre heart transplant care. The unit is proud to hold its Advanced Heart Failure accreditation, LVAD accreditation, transplant accreditation, Pulmonary Hypertension certification, and Comprehensive Cardiac Center Certification (C4).

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Directs and provides professional nursing care to patients through the process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation; coordinates the daily clinical and operational components of the unit.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversees, monitors and collects data related to the facility and department's quality and satisfaction measures. Serves as the clinical expert and role model for staff. Monitors and mentors staff performance and follows up appropriately with staff. May perform these duties in a supervisory capacity. Demonstrates effective leadership skills by effective communication and interpersonal skills. Enhance professional relationships and achieves desired outcomes. Utilizes the nursing process in providing and coordinating the plan of patient care for the age appropriate population. Assures appropriate staffing levels and staffing mix to optimize routine operations within the context of productivity requirements. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Bachelor’s Degree Nursing or relevant experience and/or education as determined by the company in lieu of Bachelor's Degree. Current State of PA RN licensure OR Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC). Preferred BSN 3 years’ experience in clinical specialty Previous supervisory experience Certification in area of specialty
