Job summary

Mercy Medical Center is seeking an experienced registered nurse for ambulatory care with specialty medication authorization expertise in Iowa. The role focuses on coordinating prior authorizations, denials and appeals, and working with PBMs, specialty pharmacies and payers to move treatment forward.

Qualifications include RN licensure for Iowa or a compact state, BLS certification, and experience with biologics/high-cost therapies and CoverMyMeds.

Qualifications

• RN licensure active in Iowa or a compact state.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Experience with electronic health records and medication workflows.

Responsibilities

• Prepare progress notes for patient visits using provider-built EPIC tools.
• Room and prepare patients for examinations, including vitals and history.
• Administer injections and collect specimens per standing orders.
• Document encounters thoroughly in the medical record.
• Coordinate medication requests, changes, and referrals as directed.
• Provide patient education and discharge instructions.
