Job summary

Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital in Chicago, IL is seeking a Clinical Nursing Supervisor for the Labor & Delivery department. This full-time night-shift role reports to the unit director, leads daily operations, coordinates staff, and ensures continuity of care during rotations.

The position requires an active RN license, BSN preferred, BLS and ACLS, and at least two years of clinical nursing with supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state Registered Nurse license.
• Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support certificate (BLS) upon hire and maintain current.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) upon hire and maintain current.
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, with 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.
• Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certificate preferred for Intensive Care.
• Non-OB Facilities – NRP Required 90 days after hire and maintained.
• Professional Certification within 2 years of hire, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supports administrative responsibility for the department service functions and works with the unit Director/Manager.
• In the absence of the unit Director/Manager, may assume administrative scope of the unit.
• Develops and implements departmental plans, including performance improvement activities and regulatory compliance.
• Prepares, conducts and oversees department orientation and training of personnel.
• Communicates with staff, physicians, and administration both written and verbally.
• Is responsible and accountable for the quality of staff and functions during their shift.
• Assist Department Director in daily operations, directing, supervising, and evaluating personnel.
• Ensure efficient functions of the department; may perform direct patient care within scope.
• continually assess care and direct staff to make changes in the plan of care.
