In addition to clinical expertise, the position requires adherence to standards, participation in quality improvements, and effective communication with patients, families, and colleagues.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree from an accredited school of nursing.
• Registered Nurse in the state of Illinois.
• Two or more years in clinical specialty.
• NMH magnet certification or obtained within 1 year (preferred).
• CPR – Basic Life Support (BLS).

Responsibilities

• Facilitates unit operations on a shift basis per policy and regulations.
• Coordinates shift staffing to ensure high quality, cost-effective care.
• Directs patient care provided by staff during a shift.
• Leads committees or task forces and supports new initiatives.
• Communicates with patients and families about nursing care.
• Implements action plans for safe, quality care and patient safety.
• Monitors patient responses and progress toward outcomes.
• Ensures a safe and hazard-free environment for patients and staff.
