Responsibilities

• Facilitates unit operations on a shift according to policy and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinates unit staffing to achieve high quality and cost effective care.
• Directs patient care provided by staff nurses and support personnel for a shift.
• Champions new initiatives and participates in committees and task forces.
• Communicates with patients and families about nursing care.
• Implements action plans to provide safe, high quality, and efficient care.
• Ensures patient safety and security of patients, families, and staff.
• Provides direct patient care and ongoing assessment of patients and families.
• Monitors and documents response to therapies and progress toward outcomes.
• Contributes to quality improvement activities for the shift.
• Assesses and intervenes in critical situations and escalates to management as needed.
• Maintains a safe environment compliant with regulatory requirements.
