Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Orthopedic and Spine Hospital – Arlington seeks a Registered Nurse Charge for the Post Surgical Unit to deliver comprehensive nursing care to post-operative patients and coordinate care with the multidisciplinary team.

The role requires a graduate of an accredited RN program, Texas RN license, BCLS/ACLS; PALS preferred. Minimum 2 years in M/S or ICU, plus orthopedic and leadership experience, with strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for post‑surgical patients in the PSU.
• Ensure high quality and safe delivery of patient care; maintain compliance with nursing standards, The Joint Commission and federal/state requirements.
• Cares for patients from age 2 years to geriatric.
• Respond to patients with healthcare needs and perform Medical Screening Exam as delegated by the Medical Executive Committee.

We are seeking a Registered Nurse Charge to join our Post Surgical Unit!

• Full Time Night Shift**

Registered Nurse Charge Post Surgical Unit at Baylor Scott & White Orthopedic and Spine Hospital – Arlington:

• The PSU Nurse has the responsibility to provide all nursing care services for the post-surgical patients in a manner suitable to accepted standards of care.
• He/She ensures the highest quality and safe delivery of patient care, maintains compliance with professional nursing, The Joint Commission, and all Federal and State standards of care.
• The RN cares for all ages from 2 years to geriatric.
• This position is assigned to respond to patients presenting to the facility with a healthcare need and providing the Medical Screening Exam as delegated by the Medical Executive Committee.

Required Skills:

• Graduate of an accredited RN school of nursing
• Current Texas RN License
• Current BCLS, ACLS
• PALS recommended.

Required Experience:

• Minimum 2 years clinical experience in an RN in hospital Medical/Surgery or ICU unit
• Strong ER experience preferred.
• Previous experience as a Charge strongly preferred.
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written. Good organization habits
• Ability to make decisions based on nursing judgment.
• Able to prioritize and organize workload to meet needs of patients and unit.
• Must have- 1-year Critical care, ED, or ICU nursing experience.
• Must have- 2 years orthopedic nursing experience.
• Must have- 1 year leadership experience (charge nurse, preceptor, committee chair).
