Job summary

The Hospitals of Providence in El Paso, TX is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to serve as Charge Nurse. You will guide staff, maintain a safe environment, optimize patient throughput, and delegate assignments across the unit.

You will provide direct clinical care per shift, supervise staff, coordinate with physicians, ensure high-quality care, and comply with safety regulations. This role reports to the clinical leader and works with the CNO to ensure efficient, compassionate patient care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Preferred: Bachelor's or master's degree in nursing.
• 1 year of RN experience.
• Current licensed, certified, or registered to practice as required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Oversees admissions, transfers and discharges; mentors and trains new staff; ensures protocol adherence.
• Monitors medical charts; provides compassionate care and liaises with doctors and administrators.
• Maintains safety and regulatory compliance; executes hospital policies and incident reporting.
• Direct clinical care per shift; coordinates patient care with the nursing team; manages staffing according to patient acuity.
• Ensures medication administration is accurate and timely; participates in hospital incident command duties as needed.
