Job description

Description:

Starr Regional Medical Center is currently seeking talented individuals to fill the position of Registered Nurse Charge in our ICU Department. This is a permanent, PRN position.

Core competencies include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition.
  • Establishing a plan of care appropriate to identified problems, involving the patient according to their capabilities and desires.
  • Supervising and mentoring nursing and support staff during the assigned shift.
  • Assisting in determining staffing levels and assignments based on staff availability, abilities, census, patient acuity, and work flow.
  • Providing direct patient care as needed.
  • Floating between staff to assist with problem-solving.
  • Taking patient assignments to meet staffing needs.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of patient care and identifying issues affecting patient outcomes.
  • Responding to complaints about patient care and managing through established channels.
  • Performing role-specific duties such as entering orders, managing admissions or discharges, and coordinating transfers.
  • Ensuring staff has necessary equipment and supplies to provide safe, quality patient care.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education

Associate’s degree in Nursing: Required

Bachelor’s degree: Preferred

Required Licenses

RN License in Tennessee or another compact state.

Required Skills

Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required at the time of hire
  • Additional certifications may be required within 6 months of hire or when transferring into a new department.
