This role is Full Time nights in our Cardiac Telemetry unit at Cobb Hospital.

Job Summary

The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team ensuring high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment supported by Nurse Managers and the Wellstar Shared Governance Model, guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model and evidence-based practice. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by Wellstar Values.

All RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and the American Nurses Association's Code of Ethics. They advocate for patients, adhere to policies, and support service excellence.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Performs the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes, planning, implementation, evaluation) using evidence-based practice and critical thinking, ensuring individualized care and effective partnerships.
  • Provides relationship-based, patient-centered care respecting cultural diversity.
  • Partners with patients and families through bedside reports, rounds, and education, focusing on patient goals.
  • Practices according to current clinical standards.

Teamwork and Collaboration

  • Coordinates safe, quality care with effective interdisciplinary communication and documentation.
  • Practices fiscally responsible teamwork to promote recruitment and retention.
  • Participates in performance improvement, research, and shared governance activities.

Professional Development and Initiative

  • Completes competency assessments and mandatory education.
  • Serves as preceptor or mentor to support workforce development.

Evidence-Based Practice and Research

  • Promotes evidence-based nursing and participates in research activities.
  • Follows policies, standards, and accreditation requirements, including safety goals.
  • Participates in data collection and formulates clinical questions for practice improvement.

Resources and Support

  • Plans for patient care across the continuum.
  • Develops protocols to improve outcomes.
  • Supports efficient resource use.

Performs other duties as assigned and complies with all policies and standards.

Minimum Education

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Nursing degree (Bachelor's preferred)

Minimum License and Certification

  • Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN - Multi-state Compact
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Experience

Less than 1 year of clinical experience or completion of accredited nursing program is required. Direct patient care experience is preferred.
