Job summary

Christiana Care Health System in Newark, DE seeks an Assistant Nurse Manager for the 6B Medical Telemetry Unit to support the Nurse Manager in clinical practice leadership and high-quality, cost-effective patient care.

The role will share 24-hour accountability, supervise nursing and technical staff, oversee staffing and scheduling, participate in hiring and promotions, and lead efforts to improve knowledge and professional standards across the unit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing required.
• Master's degree in nursing, healthcare, or business management required or enrolled to be obtained within 5 years of promotion into position.
• If no BSN, Master's degree in nursing is required.
• BLS Certification.
• Professional certification in a related nursing specialty.
• 5 years appropriate clinical and leadership experience in area or specialty.
• Current nursing licensure in the State of Delaware or compact state.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Nurse Manager in the overall administrative direction for nursing practice and delivery of high-quality care.
• Share 24-hour responsibility and accountability for daily operations.
• Supervise nursing and technical staff; assess staff proficiency; oversee staffing and scheduling; evaluate performance; counsel staff as needed.
• Participate in hiring, promotion, salary adjustments, and termination decisions; model professional behavior and support staff development.
• Identify and implement strategies to improve knowledge, professionalism, and leadership within the team.
• Direct, mentor, and support all staff levels on the floor; engage in succession planning.
• Analyze administrative and operational functions and implement system-wide improvements.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Nursing

Master's degree in nursing, healthcare, or business management

BLS Certification

Professional certification in nursing

5 years leadership experience

Delaware nursing license
