Job summary

UnityPoint Health in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Endoscopy unit. This part-time role offers daytime hours with no weekends, Monday-Friday, 8-hour shifts with start times between 6am and 8am.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program or IA Board-approved program.
• Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa.
• Minimum of twelve months of acute RN experience; RN Residency available for new graduates or those with <12 months.
• Participation in RN Residency is required for certain openings in UnityPoint Health – Des Moines.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient and family needs and provide appropriate teaching and referrals.
• Develop an individualized plan of care with patient/family and health team.
• Document promptly to maintain accurate legal patient records.
• Deliver high-quality nursing care following policies and standards of care.

Looking for flexibility and a collaborative team environment? Join our Endoscopy department as a Registered Nurse and enjoy daytime hours with no weekends!

Schedule:

• Part Time, Monday-Friday, 8-hours day shifts varying start time between 6am-8am. No weekends or holidays. Late Stay required.

This nursing role will be in the Pre/Post/PACU and PAT for the Endoscopy department. The nurse will take on the role of assessing patients prior to procedures, recovering patients after anesthesia or moderate sedation, and clearing patients through the anesthesia protocol.

Responsibilities

• Assesses the needs of patients and families, providing appropriate teaching and making the necessary referrals to provide continuity of care.


• Develops an individual plan of care using a collaborative approach with the patient/family and health care team.


• Promptly completes documentation to assure an accurate legal record of patient’s care.


• Delivers high quality care utilizing the nursing process while demonstrating knowledge and clinical skills of the specialty required on assigned unit in accordance with established policies, procedures and standards of care.


• Utilizes holistic approach (considering biopsychosocial, spiritual, educational, safety, and related criteria) appropriate to the age of the patients and families served in the assigned service area.


• Delegates and provides direction for other healthcare team members within their scope of practice and holds them accountable for their involvement in the plan of care.


• Utilizes critical thinking in developing nursing interventions while maintaining responsibility and accountability for the knowledge of conditions of assigned patients.


• Assess and chooses teaching strategies appropriate to the patient’s and their families’ age specific needs, culture, gender, readiness to learn and level of comprehension.


• Consults appropriate resources within the hospital to provide specialized education.


• Demonstrates knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately.

Qualifications

Education:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or IA Board of Nursing approved nursing program.

License(s)/Certification(s):

• Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa

Experience:

• Minimum of twelve months acute RN experience.
  
  
  • All newly licensed RNs or RNs with less than 12 months of acute RN experience and who are interested in this department or any other Acute RN role within UnityPoint Health – Des Moines, are required to participate in the RN Residency program.
