Job summary

UnityPoint Health-Des Moines is seeking a Cardiac Cath Lab Registered Nurse to join our specialized team. You will deliver direct, specialized care to patients in the Cath Lab, collaborating with cardiologists and vascular surgeons.

This full-time role requires a BSN or approved nursing program, Iowa RN licensure, and at least 12 months of acute RN experience. Relocation assistance up to $10,000 is offered for moves over 50 miles. On-call 1–2 nights weekly and every 3rd weekend apply.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or IA Board of Nursing approved nursing program.
• Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa.
• Minimum of twelve months acute RN experience.
• RN Residency program participation for new grads or those with <12 months of acute RN experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties related to diagnostic and therapeutic procedures: scrubbing, documenting, and circulating during procedures under the cardiologist/vascular surgeon.
• Provider circulator role in Invasive Vascular Labs as assigned.
• Oversee circulating assistants during procedures.
• Promptly completes documentation to ensure an accurate legal record of patient care.
• Assess needs of patients and families, provide teaching and referrals for continuity of care.
• Communicates effectively with physicians, nurses, radiologic technologists and leaders; with patients and families.
• Participates in taking on-call as assigned.
• Continues professional development and shares knowledge through networking and research.
• Uses a holistic approach to care considering biopsychosocial, spiritual, educational safety.
• Delegates and provides direction to other healthcare providers and ensures quality nursing care.

• Performs the various duties related to diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. This includes scrubbing a case, documenting/monitoring, and circulating during procedure under the supervision of the cardiologist/vascular surgeon.
• Providers circulator role in the Invasive Vascular Labs as assigned
• Oversight of circulating assistants during procedures.
• Promptly completes documentation to assure an accurate legal record of patient’s care.
• Utilizes critical thinking in making independent judgement and maintains responsibility and accountability for the knowledge of conditions of assigned patients.
• Assesses needs of patients and families, providing appropriate teaching and making the necessary referrals to provide continuity of care.
• Communicates effectively with other team members including physicians, nurses, radiologic technologists, clinical partners, and dept secretaries and leaders. Communicates effectively with patients and families.
• Participates in taking off-hour call as assigned
• Continues professional development by involvement in professional activities that enhance nursing practice by sharing knowledge through networking and research.
• Utilizes a holistic approach (considering biopsychosocial, spiritual, educational safety, and related criteria) appropriate to the age of the patients and families served in the assigned service area.
• Delegates and provides direction for other healthcare providers and holding them accountable for their involvement in the plan of care. Consistently delivers high quality care utilizing the nursing process while demonstrating knowledge

Qualifications

Education:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or IA Board of Nursing approved nursing program.

License(s)/Certification(s):

• Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa

Experience:

• Minimum of twelve months acute RN experience.
• All newly licensed RNs or RNs with less than 12 months of acute RN experience and who are interested in this department or any other Acute RN role within UnityPoint Health - Des Moines, are required to participate in the RN Residency program.
