Relocation Assistance: Up to $10,000 for full‑time offers when relocating more than 50 miles.

Shift: Days or Nights – Full Time and Part Time. Shift rotation: Days or Nights, every 3rd weekend and holiday. Shift differentials available for qualifying shifts.

3 East is a 27‑bed Medical Surgical unit that provides an enriching learning experience. Caring for patients with a variety of diagnoses including respiratory, gastroenterology, endocrinology, infectious disease, and stroke. 3 East uses innovative care delivery to help provide holistic care to our patients by utilizing advancements in technology partnered with fundamental nursing care. We utilize evidence‑based practice to make a difference in our patient care and advance critical thinking skills and nursing autonomy within our multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provides and coordinates nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process.
• Completes documentation to assure an accurate record of patient’s care.
• Utilizes critical thinking in making independent judgments and maintains responsibility for the knowledge of conditions of assigned patients.
• Collaborates with physicians and other professionals in planning and implementing care within hospital policy and legal limitations.
• Assesses needs of patients and families, provides appropriate teaching to facilitate discharge planning, and makes the necessary referrals to community agencies to provide continuity of care.
• Utilizes a holistic approach (considering physical, psych/social, spiritual, educational, safety, and related criteria) appropriate to the age of the patients served in the assigned service area.
• Demonstrates initiative to improve quality of care, patient and employee safety, and customer service.

Qualifications

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or IA Board of Nursing approved nursing program.

License(s)/Certification(s)

• Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa.

Experience

• Minimum of twelve months acute RN experience.
• All newly licensed RNs or RNs with less than 12 months of acute RN experience who are interested in this department or any other Acute RN role within UnityPoint Health – Des Moines are required to participate in the RN Residency program.
