Job Summary

The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders, supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The practice framework is guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, evidence-based practice, and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the Wellstar Values.

Facility: Cobb Hospital

The RN Clinical Nurse is expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act. They must implement the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards by the American Nurses Association. As part of the patient services team, they should uphold patient voices, system policies, and support service excellence goals.

Core Responsibilities And Essential Functions
Exemplary Practice and Outcomes
  • Performs the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, evaluation) using evidence-based practice, analytical/critical thinking, and individualized care. Coordinates care through effective partnerships, recognizing caring as central to optimal patient outcomes.
  • Provides relationship-based, patient-centered care tailored to population-specific characteristics (age, gender, disease, etc.), reflecting cultural diversity.
  • Partners with patients and significant others (as appropriate) using methods like bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, and patient teaching, focusing on patient goals.
Teamwork and Collaboration
  • Coordinates delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care, promoting respectful, inclusive interdisciplinary communication and timely documentation.
  • Demonstrates teamwork by practicing responsibly and promoting recruitment and retention of healthcare team members.
  • Supports performance improvement activities, research, and shared governance to enhance patient safety and care quality.
Professional Development and Initiative
  • Completes all professional competency assessments and required education.
  • Acts as preceptor or mentor to ensure a qualified workforce, modeling professional nursing practice and fostering a healthy work environment.
Evidence-Based Practice and Research
  • Promotes evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement activities.
  • Upholds healthcare policies, procedures, and standards including legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements.
  • Participates in data collection, formulates clinical questions, and consults resources to address practice issues.
Resources and Support
  • Plans proactively for patient care across the continuum.
  • Develops protocols and procedures collaboratively to improve outcomes like readmission rates and adverse events.
  • Supports efficient use of resources.
Minimum Education

Associate's Degree in nursing or graduation from an accredited nursing school required. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.

Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Nurse (Single State) upon hire required.
  • RN - Multi-state Compact upon hire required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required; BLS Instructor or Provisional BLS required.
Experience

Less than 1 year of clinical experience required; direct patient care experience preferred.
