Job Summary

The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment that is administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders and is supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, implementing the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association. As a member of the patient services team, it is expected that the individual upholds the voice of the patient, system policies and procedures, while supporting service excellence goals.

Core Responsibilities And Essential Functions
Exemplary Practice and Outcomes
  1. Performs the Nursing Process (assessment; diagnosis; identification of outcomes; planning; implementation; and evaluation) in the performance of clinical care using evidence-based practice, analytical/critical thinking, ensuring care is individualized, and coordinating care through effective partnerships, recognizing caring as central to optimal patient care outcomes.
  2. Provides relationship-based patient-centered care that is consistent with population-specific characteristics (e.g., age, gender, disease) and reflects an understanding of cultural diversity.
  3. Partners with the patient and significant others (as appropriate) using methods such as bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, just-in-time and planned patient teaching, keeping the patient and significant others updated, and making the patient’s goals the focus of the care plan.
  4. Practices using current clinical standards.
Teamwork and Collaboration
  1. Coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care that promotes the professional care delivery model, including diverse and inclusive interdisciplinary communication methods, timely documentation, and fostering a respectful, inclusive environment.
  2. Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration by practicing responsibly, promoting recruitment and retention, and supporting performance improvement, research, and shared governance.
Professional Development and Initiative
  1. Completes professional competency assessments and mandatory education, serving as a preceptor or mentor to ensure a qualified workforce and modeling professional nursing practice.
Evidence-Based Practice and Research
  1. Promotes evidence-based practice, research, and performance improvement, participating in data collection, clinical questions, and resource utilization.
Resources and Support
  1. Proactively plans patient care across the continuum and participates in protocol development to improve outcomes, supporting resource efficiency.
Minimum Education Requirements

Associate's Degree in nursing or graduation from an accredited nursing school is required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered Nurse (Single State) upon hire
  • RN - Multi-state Compact upon hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required
  • BLS Instructor required
  • BLS Provisional required
Experience

Less than 1 year of clinical hours from an accredited nursing program is required; direct patient care experience is preferred.
