Job Summary

The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized, high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders, supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The practice framework is guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, evidence-based practice, and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the Wellstar Values.

Job Summary

It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, implementing the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards set forth by the American Nurses Association. As part of the patient services team, individuals must uphold the voice of the patient, adhere to system policies and procedures, and support service excellence goals.

  • Performs the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) using evidence-based practice, analytical/critical thinking, and individualized care, coordinating through effective partnerships to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Provides relationship-based, patient-centered care tailored to population-specific characteristics, respecting cultural diversity.
  • Partners with patients and significant others through methods like bedside reports, interdisciplinary rounds, patient teaching, and updates, focusing care plans on patient goals.
  • Practices according to current clinical standards.
  1. Teamwork and Collaboration
  • Coordinates delivery and documentation of safe, quality care, promoting respectful, inclusive communication and timely documentation.
  • Demonstrates teamwork by practicing responsibly and fostering recruitment and retention.
  • Supports performance improvement initiatives, research, and shared governance at all levels.
  1. Professional Development and Initiative
  • Completes all initial and ongoing competency assessments and mandatory education.
  • Serves as a preceptor and/or mentor to ensure a qualified workforce, modeling professional nursing practice and creating a healthy work environment.

  • Promotes evidence-based practice, research, and performance improvement activities.
  • Participates in data collection, poses clinical questions, consults experts, and uses evidence to address practice questions.

  • Proactively plans patient care across the continuum.
  • Develops protocols and procedures collaboratively to improve outcomes.
  • Supports efficient use of resources.

Minimum Education

Associate's Degree in nursing or graduation from an accredited nursing school required. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.

Minimum Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Nurse (Single State) upon hire required
  • RN - Multi-state Compact upon hire required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire required
  • BLS Instructor upon hire required
  • BLS Provisional upon hire required

Minimum Experience

Less than 1 year of clinical hours completed post-nursing program required. Direct patient care experience preferred.
