Job Summary

The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families, and significant others receive individualized, high-quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders, supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The practice framework is guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, evidence-based practice, and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the Wellstar Values.

Facility: Cobb Hospital

The RN Clinical Nurse is expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, implementing the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards by the American Nurses Association. As a member of the patient services team, they must uphold the voice of the patient, adhere to system policies and procedures, and support service excellence goals.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions
  1. Exemplary Practice and Outcomes
    1. Performs the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) using evidence-based practice, analytical/critical thinking, and individualized care, coordinating care through effective partnerships.
    2. Provides relationship-based, patient-centered care tailored to population-specific characteristics, respecting cultural diversity.
    3. Partners with patients and significant others using appropriate methods (e.g., bedside shift report, interdisciplinary rounds, patient teaching) to keep them informed and centered on their goals.
    4. Practices according to current clinical standards.
  2. Teamwork and Collaboration
    1. Coordinates safe, quality patient care documentation and delivery, promoting respectful, inclusive interdisciplinary communication.
    2. Demonstrates teamwork by practicing responsibly and promoting staff recruitment and retention.
    3. Participates in performance improvement activities, research, and shared governance to ensure safe, quality care.
  3. Professional Development and Initiative
    1. Completes all required professional competencies and education.
    2. Serves as a preceptor or mentor to promote workforce development and a healthy work environment.
  4. Evidence-Based Practice and Research
    1. Promotes evidence-based practice, research, and performance improvement; participates in data collection and clinical research questions.
    2. Adheres to healthcare policies, standards, and legal/regulatory requirements, including safety goals.
  5. Resources and Support
    1. Plans proactively for patient care across the continuum.
    2. Contributes to protocol and procedure development to achieve optimal outcomes.
    3. Supports efficient use of resources.
Minimum Education and Certifications
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing or graduation from an accredited nursing program (required).
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (preferred).
  • Licenses and certifications: Registered Nurse (single-state and multi-state compact), Basic Life Support, BLS Instructor/Provisional (required).
Experience
  • Less than 1 year of clinical nursing experience (required).
  • Direct patient care experience (preferred).
