Job summary

UnityPoint Health in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our interdisciplinary team in acute care. You will provide and coordinate nursing care using the nursing process and contribute to discharge planning with patient teaching.

This role requires a graduate of an accredited nursing program, Iowa RN licensure, and a minimum of twelve months acute RN experience. New grads may participate in the RN Residency program; UnityPoint Health supports professional growth.

Overview

As a member of the interdisciplinary team, contributes professional nursing knowledge and skills in the provision and management of care to patients and their families. Maintains a practice environment that reflects the ANA Code for Nurses, Philosophy of Nursing at UnityPoint Health with in the structure of the Professional Nurse Practice Model and in collaboration with other care givers. Successfully functions as a Registered Nurse as defined in Iowa Nursing Regulations and Practice Act. Provides nursing care for patients and families and maintains a practice environment that reflects the ANA Code for Nurses, Philosophy of Nursing at UPHDM within the structure of the Professional Nurse Practice Model and in collaboration with other care givers.

• Completes documentation to assure an accurate record of patient's care.
• Utilizes critical thinking in making independent judgments, and maintains responsibility for the knowledge of conditions of assigned patients.

Qualifications

Education:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or IA Board of Nursing approved nursing program.

License(s)/Certification(s):

• Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa

Experience:

• Minimum of twelve months acute RN experience.
• All newly licensed RNs or RNs with less than 12 months of acute RN experience and who are interested in this department or any other Acute RN role within UnityPoint Health - Des Moines, are required to participate in the RN Residency program.
