Job Description for Registered Nurse at North Shore Medical Center

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse manages all aspects of the nursing process and the delivery of patient and family-centered care. The Registered Nurse has the responsibility and authority to request and utilize governing and administrative resources, technological and support systems, and multidisciplinary clinical experts necessary to manage and deliver quality, cost-effective patient care.

Additional specialties and requirements include:

• ED - BLS required; ACLS/PALS preferred
• OR - Proficiency in hospital software, BLS required, minimum 3 years OR experience, circulating and scrubbing skills, call required
• PACU - Minimum 3 years critical care, ACLS and PALS required
• ICU - ACLS required
• Cardiac Rehab - Knowledge of software, 2+ years cardiac nursing, certifications in BLS, ACLS, and preferred ANCC Cardiac Vascular Nursing Certification
• Med Surg - BLS and/or ACLS, 2+ years experience preferred
• Pediatrics, Labor & Delivery - BLS and PALS, ENPC preferred, minimum 2 years experience
• Pre-Op Eval - 2 years critical care
• Radiology - 3 years medical-surgical nursing, critical care preferred, BLS and ACLS required

Essential Functions

• Utilize current nursing standards and evidence-based practices
• Assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
• Collaborate with healthcare team and educate patients and families
• Maintain safety, infection control, and professional standards
• Participate in performance improvement and ongoing education

Qualifications

• Degree: Nursing diploma or Bachelor's preferred
• Licenses: Valid RN license
• Experience: Minimum 3 years in IV and PICC line management, 3-5 years preferred
• Skills: CPR, PALS, ACLS, BLS certifications as required; ability to transition into new areas with training

Work Details

Location: 81 Highland Avenue, onsite; 36 hours/week, night shift; regular employee status.
