Job summary

Universal Hospital Services Inc. is seeking a registered nurse to serve as Charge Nurse in our psychiatric care units. The role oversees RNs, LPNs, and technicians, coordinating patient care across 12-hour shifts with a weekend/month availability requirement.

The position requires a nursing degree, Ohio RN licensure, CPR and CPI training, and readiness to work in acute and residential pediatric care settings. A new sign-on bonus and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing.
• Current RN license in Ohio.
• CPR certification and CPI training required.
• Must pass a medication administration exam and age-specific training.

Responsibilities

• Prescribes, delegates, coordinates, and evaluates patient care in collaboration with the health team.
• Oversee and direct Licensed Practical Nurses and Behavioral Counseling Technicians on the unit.
• Provide care in acute and residential units for children.
• Be available for one weekend a month, plus summer and winter holidays for scheduling.

Three 12 hour shifts 7am - 7:30pm or 7pm - 7:30am

Acute and Residential units for children.

Must be available one weekend a month, a summer and winter holiday.

The Registered Nurse (i.e. Charge Nurse) prescribes, delegates, coordinates, and evaluates patient care through collaborative efforts with health team members and in accordance with the nursing process and the standards of care and practices. Oversee and directs Licensed Practical Nurses and Behavioral Counseling Technicians assigned to unit.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing required. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.

Experience: A minimum of one (1) year experience as a registered nurse in a psychiatric health care facility preferred.

Licensure: Currently licensed to practice by the Ohio State Board of Nursing. Must have a valid driver's license.

Additional Requirements: CPR certification and successful completion of Crisis Intervention Training (CPI), including appropriate use of Seclusion and Restraint, immediately following employment and prior to performing patient care. Must pass a medication administration exam and complete a basic developmental and age specific training.
