Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Intensive Care Unit at RWJUH Hamilton Hospital in Hamilton, NJ. This per diem day-shift role requires NJ RN licensure, BLS, ACLS, and PALS, with 1–2 years ICU experience and a BSN preferred.

You’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, safe patient care. Responsibilities include patient assessments, medication administration, documentation in EPIC EMR, and active participation in rounds.

Qualifications

• Active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing
• Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
• 1–2 years ICU acute care experience preferred
• BSN strongly preferred; willingness to complete BSN within five years of hire

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and detect clinical changes early

Pay Range: $48.29 - $65.06 per hour

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

The Registered Nurse is expected to work collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure the delivery of safe and high-quality patient care on the Intensive Care Unit. Typical Day

• Conducting comprehensive patient assessments and recognize subtle clinical changes, using your judgment to intervene early and advocate for your patients
• Providing safe, evidence-based medications, treatments, and hands on care grounded in strong clinical judgment
• Serving as a clinical partner to physicians and advanced providers, offering insight that supports timely, well-coordinated care decisions
• Providing clear, compassionate education to patients and families so they feel informed, supported, and prepared for the next phase of care
• Ensuring accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record to promote continuity and patient safety
• Contributing your voice during interdisciplinary rounds, helping drive seamless communication and smooth transitions of care

To be considered for this RN opportunity, you must hold an active New Jersey Registered Nurse license in good standing and a current American Heart Association BLS certification, ACLS and PALS. ASN or Nursing diploma required. If candidate possesses ASN or Nursing diploma, must agree to complete BSN within five years of hire date. A Bachelor's degree in Nursing is strongly preferred, as is prior patient care experience and comfort with electronic medical record systems (EMR) like EPIC. 1-2 years experience on an Acute Care ICU unit required.

This position offers per diem day shift with required rotating weekends (Saturday and Sunday) as well as rotating holidays, allowing you to build strong patient relationships while maintaining balance.
