Job summary

Rosenbauer Minnesota in Wyoming, MN is seeking a Pump Assembler to build water pump assemblies for fire apparatus. You will use basic and specialty hand tools, read blueprints, and follow safety procedures to ensure quality.

Responsibilities include routing plumbing with TIG and MIG welds, installing generators, mounting pumps on trucks, testing finished units, and coordinating parts with the production schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Welding experience required; welding certificate preferred.
• 3+ years MIG and TIG welding experience with aluminum and stainless steel preferred.
• Strong mechanical and technical ability.
• Ability to read blueprints and measure accurately.
• Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
• Ability to use basic math for measurements and tolerances.
• Weld evaluation may be required during interview.

Responsibilities

• Assembles pump components to create a working pump.
• Route plumbing through the truck and TIG weld plumbing.
• Install generators in dunnage tubs.
• Fabricate brackets and MIG weld them in place.
• Test the assembled pump to meet specifications and quality.
• Mount pump onto the fire truck per build specs.
• Perform other duties as required by management.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Pump Assembler puts the water pump apparatus together by utilizing basic and specialty hand tools. The Pump Assembler manages the inventory of parts and coordinates the work schedule with the delivery of pieces. Also, the Pump Assembler will utilize basic and specialty hand tools to assemble all pieces of the water pump together.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assembles pump components together to make a working pump apparatus.
• Route plumbing through the truck and TIG weld plumbing together.
• Install generators in dunnage tubs.
• Fabricate brackets to hold plumbing and MIG weld them in place.
• Tests built pump to ensure that the apparatus meets all the specifications and quality requirements.
• Utilizes basic and specialty hand tools to assemble all pieces of the water pump together.
• Mounts pump onto the fire truck according to the specifications of the build.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the organization and our members.

Tools to be utilized

Hand tools, power tools, grinders, cut off wheels, band saw, shear, welders, and tape measure.

Qualifications (KSA’s)

Knowledge (K):

• High school diploma/GED.
• Previous welding experience required.
• Welding certificate preferred.
• 3+ years of previous MIG and TIG welding experience with aluminum and stainless steel preferred.
• Strong mechanical and technical ability required.

Skills (S):

Language:

• Able to read and work from blueprints/spec books.
• Able to read and understand a tape measure accurately.
• Able to follow written and verbal directions.

Math:

• Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Computer:

• Able to perform simple computer tasks to obtain information/changes related to the build process and/or troubleshoot.

Abilities (A):

• Able to identify quality issues, recognize changes within the production process, and adjust as needed.

• Able to prioritize work and to multitask while adhering to deadlines.
• Able to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.

Other Qualifications

• Driving- license May be required to drive between buildings.
• Driving- Own Vehicle May be required to drive between buildings.
• Hours of work- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends occasionally Overtime as needed to meet the needs of the department.
• Qualifications- Other Able to pass a weld evaluation during the interview process.
