Job summary

SMS DATA PRODUCTS GROUP, INC in McLean, Virginia, is seeking an Information Security Specialist to support Authority to Operate processes, RMF activities, and cybersecurity documentation for the BIM Task Order program.

The role focuses on maintaining Security Plans, Assessment Reports, and POA&Ms with government partners. A bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity/IT and 5+ years DoD cybersecurity are required, plus a DoD Secret clearance or eligibility and 15–25% travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, information technology, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of information assurance or cybersecurity experience in DoD environments.
• Working knowledge of RMF processes and NIST SP 800-53.
• Must be willing to travel 15%–25%.
• DoD Secret security clearance or ability to pass background check and obtain interim Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Support Authority to Operate processes, Risk Management Framework activities, and cybersecurity compliance documentation.
• Assist in developing and maintaining cybersecurity artifacts including Security Plans, Security Assessment Plans, Security Assessment Reports, and Plans of Action and Milestones.
• Coordinate with base Information Systems Security Managers and cybersecurity personnel supporting RMF authorization activities.
• Track cybersecurity compliance requirements including Security Technical Implementation Guides, Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts, and Time Compliance Network Orders.
• Support vulnerability management activities coordinating scanning, assessment, and remediation.
• Maintain cybersecurity documentation in eMASS and other Government systems.
• Coordinate continuous monitoring activities and assessment reporting.
• Support cybersecurity inspections and audits including Cyber Operations Readiness Assessments.
• Prepare cybersecurity status reports and metrics.
• Track POA&M milestones ensuring timely vulnerability remediation.
• Coordinate with engineering teams for security control implementation and testing.
