Job summary

Mission Essential is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to support RMF activities and ATO processes at our Fairfax, VA headquarters. You will work with system owners and engineers to ensure security across multiple information systems, performing vulnerability assessments and coordinating remediation efforts.

The role requires a TS clearance, 5+ years of cybersecurity experience, and strong knowledge of RMF, NIST guidelines, and DoD requirements. A BS degree in a related field is required.

Qualifications

• Active TS clearance and a BS degree are required.
• 5+ years of cybersecurity experience with hands-on RMF.
• Experience with DoD/NIST standards and RMF processes.
• Experience supporting SIPRNet-connected systems.
• Strong Windows server/workstation administration.

Responsibilities

• Support RMF activities: package development, security controls, assessment, continuous monitoring, and ATO processes.
• Coordinate with system owners, ISSMs/ISSOs, engineers, and assessors.
• Lead meetings to define and document cybersecurity requirements.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments using Nessus and other approved tools.
• Implement and track corrective actions for security incidents and deficiencies.
