Job summary

Sítio El Tropicano is seeking a Kitchen Steward to maintain clean dishes, cookware, equipment, and work areas that support our kitchens, outlets, and banquets at the scenic San Antonio riverfront property.

Responsibilities include washing, sanitizing, and returning items, operating dish machines, and assisting with cleaning tasks across back-of-house areas; safety and sanitation are emphasized throughout.

Qualifications

• Dishwashing, kitchen, cleaning, or hotel experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to operate commercial cleaning equipment after training.
• Reliability and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work safely around hot water, chemicals, sharp objects, and wet floors.
• Required food-safety certification, or ability to obtain it within the required timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Wash and sanitize dishes, cookware, utensils, and service equipment.
• Return clean items promptly to designated kitchens, outlets, and storage areas.
• Operate dish machines and cleaning equipment according to training.
• Report broken items, equipment problems, and supply shortages.
• Clean dish areas, kitchen floors, work surfaces, storage spaces, and assigned back-of-house areas.
• Remove and separate trash, recycling, and compost according to hotel procedures.
• Assist with moving and organizing banquet and outlet equipment.
• Keep service paths and work areas clear and safe.
• Complete assigned opening, closing, and cleaning tasks.
• Use chemicals according to training and follow sanitation procedures.
• Report spills, injuries, damaged equipment, and unsafe conditions immediately.
• Work with urgency and communicate respectfully with culinary and service teams.
