Job summary

Middlesex Water Company in Port Reading, NJ is seeking a Risk Services professional to provide risk management support across insurance, real estate rights, and enterprise risk programs. The role includes coordinating investigations, managing claims with adjusters, and supporting contingency planning within the enterprise.

Responsibilities span incident review, property rights inspections, and collaboration with operations to improve safety and reliability.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid NJ driver's license required.
  • At least five years of experience in Transmission and Distribution operations, maintenance, construction and supervision.
  • Ability to read, understand and use GIS CC&B WAM MWM construction plans and distribution system maps.
  • Availability for emergency call-in and on-call assignments.
  • Must be able to work outdoors year-round.
  • Be able to work independently with little supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Experience with databases.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and review Risk Reports including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate investigations with supervisory and/or Dispatch personnel in Operations.
  • Manage and coordinate claims with insurance company adjusters.
  • Assist in inspection of Enterprise properties, right-of-ways and easements for hazards and insurance requirements.
  • Assist with day-to-day operations of the Real Estate Property Right Program.
  • Manage areas of responsibility on the Risk Department Balanced Scorecard.
  • Attend pre-construction project and progress meetings.
  • Recommend modifications to programs and procedures to improve system reliability and reduce liability.
  • Contribute to safety awareness and contingency planning.
  • Communicate with customers, contractors, attorneys, municipalities and the public.

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Risk Services Director this position is responsible for providing risk management services and support with the essential functions under Business Insurance Program Claim Investigation; Real Estate and Property Rights Program; and Risk Services throughout the Middlesex Water Company Enterprise Work Performed Business Insurance Program Claim Investigation Program Essential Functions Manage and review all Risk Reports including but not limited to review of completeness root cause analysis and corrective actionsCoordinates investigations and remedial corrective actions with supervisory andor Dispatch personnel in OperationsManage and coordinate claims with insurance company adjustersManage and develop various schedules to track claims and litigationAssist in management and coordination of after hour inquiries regarding claims as neededReal Estate and Property Rights Program Essential Functions Assist with inspection of Enterprise properties right of ways and easements for potential hazards damage and insurance related requirementsAssist with the day to day operations of the Real Estate Property Right ProgramRisk Services Essential Functions Manage and coordinate area of responsibility on the Risk Department Balanced ScorecardManage and coordinate Schedule of Action Items for the EnterpriseAttend pre construction project and progress meetings as needed Enterprise wideRecommends modifications to existing programs and procedures to improve system reliability and reduce liabilityContribute to the overall safety awareness throughout the EnterpriseAssist in contingency planning and response coordination of emergency situationsCommunicate with customers contractors attorneys municipalities the general public etc in a responsible and courteous mannerWork on projectsother duties as assigned by the Risk Services DirectorAssist in all areas of the Risk Department when personnel on vacation or leave

Qualifications

Compensation & Benefits

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to climb ladders enterexit confined spaces enterexit excavations
  • Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather
  • Ability to bend stoop sit for extended periods of time
  • This position requires operation of a computer and other office equipment such as printers copiers scanners and calculators
  • Must have the ability to visually inspect and review hard copy and online documents
  • Must be able to communicate detect converse with discern convey express oneself discuss and exchange information
  • Must be able to occasionally move about inside the office and use stairs to access file cabinets office machinery etc
  • Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds unassisted and at least 50 75 pounds assisted
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50 percent of the time
