Job summary

Rural Metro Fire Department in Huntsville, AL seeks a Risk & Safety Manager to support and execute risk management and safety programs across RMF and Capstone Fire & Safety. The role oversees safety compliance, claims management, program administration, and data management to foster a safe workplace.

The position collaborates with the Chief Human Resources Officer, regional teams, and external partners to reduce risk, ensure regulatory compliance, and improve safety performance through analysis

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Business Administration, or related field.
• 3–5 years of risk management, environmental health and safety, or related experience.
• Experience in fire, EMS, or emergency response services preferred.
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and risk management principles.
• Familiarity with claims management systems and ESIS.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate field safety reports and maintain documentation of findings.
• Serve as admin point for daily risk management and safety activities.
• Conduct on-site compliance reviews and investigations.
• Assist with claims processing through ESIS and coordinate with carriers.
• Maintain OSHA log reviews, SOPs, and safety policies.
• Coordinate safety training, LMS administration, and training records.
• Prepare safety metrics reports and executive summaries for leadership.
• Communicate safety updates to field operations and stakeholders.
