Position Summary

Orlando Health is seeking a Risk Operations Manager responsible for the organization's risk management prevention program. As the Risk Prevention Manager, you will be responsible for the facility or assigned area’s risk management activities. The ideal candidate will possess a clinical background with substantial experience in clinical risk management. This role requires a confident leader who excels in presenting to diverse audiences, adeptly manages regulatory and risk concerns, and thrives in a collaborative team environment.

Schedule: Mon-Fri 8am-5pm

Location: Downtown Orlando

Qualifications

Education / Training: Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or closely related field required, Master’s preferred.

Experience: Five years of clinical or medical legal experience to include three (3+) years’ of Risk Management experience and leadership experience preferred.

Skills: Advanced PC skills required.

Responsibilities

  1. Develops and coordinates the risk management plan.
  2. Interfaces with federal and state agencies.
  3. Administers the risk management program on a day-to-day basis.
  4. Coordinates and reviews risk education programs.
  5. Ensures compliance with risk management standards by Florida Risk Statutes, Joint Commission, and other accrediting and regulatory agencies to maintain patient safety.
  6. Minimizes loss to protect the organization’s assets.
  7. Maintains knowledge of the Patient Safety Evaluation System and PSWP.
  8. Reviews and formulates policies and procedures, making recommendations for final approval by senior management.
  9. Manages personnel functions including hiring, work assignments, coaching, and disciplinary actions.
  10. Maintains regular attendance as per organizational policies and applicable laws.
  11. Participates in hiring and evaluating team members.
  12. Monitors compliance of certifications, licenses, and required education for team members.
  13. Handles human resources functions such as coaching and performance counseling.
  14. Ensures compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  15. Has full responsibility for risk prevention operations.
  16. Leads loss control and loss prevention activities, reporting results to the Director.
  17. Oversees statistical trending of losses and pattern analysis.
  18. Identifies and communicates regulatory requirements to Risk Managers.
  19. Develops organization-wide disclosure policies on medical errors and secures physician support.
  20. Analyzes loss risks versus reduction costs.
  21. Demonstrates all competencies required by Florida Statute.
  22. Supervises collection of risk management cost data and prepares departmental budgets.
  23. Collaborates with medical staff services to develop and maintain risk management profiles and ensure credentialing compliance.
  24. Evaluates correspondence from legal and outside sources, formulating responses as necessary.
  25. Addresses medical and legal inquiries related to patient care and loss control.
  26. Reports patient care incidents to AHCA, investigates, and develops corrective actions, submitting reports to relevant agencies.
  27. Supervises and manages Risk Managers.
  28. Other duties as assigned.
