Job summary

Marina Landscape, Inc. seeks a Risk Manager to lead an enterprise risk program across landscape construction operations, protecting assets, employees, and profitability by proactive identification and mitigation of financial, safety, legal, environmental, and reputational risks.

You will work with Operations, HR, and Project Management to integrate controls into daily workflows, develop business continuity plans, oversee OSHA compliance, and report to senior leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Experience in risk management, preferably in construction or landscape services.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and environmental regulations.
  • Knowledge of OCIP/own-occupant insured project claims.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Certifications such as CRM, CPCU or CSP preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and action plans.
  • Manage corporate insurance program and claims processes.
  • Ensure OSHA, EPA, and applicable regulations compliance.

Job description

Risk Manager - Landscape Construction Industry

The Risk Manager is responsible for protecting the company’s assets, employees, and profitability by leading a comprehensive enterprise risk management program with a strong focus on landscape construction operations. This role proactively identifies, evaluates, and mitigates financial, safety, legal, environmental, and reputational risks while ensuring regulatory compliance and promoting a strong, company-wide risk-aware culture.

Key Responsibilities
Risk Identification & Assessment
  • Conduct jobsite visits, audits, and inspections to identify operational, safety, environmental, and financial risks.
  • Review project plans, contracts, and subcontractor agreements to assess exposure related to scope, liability, and compliance.
  • Evaluate risks related to equipment usage, weather conditions, workforce practices, and project delivery.
Risk Mitigation & Strategy
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, controls, and corrective action plans.
  • Partner with Operations, Human Resources, and Project Management to integrate safety and risk controls into daily workflows.
  • Establish business continuity and incident response plans to minimize operational disruptions.
  • Safety Officer(s) will directly report to the Risk Manager
  • Manage Safety Officer(s) day-to-day performance
Insurance & Claims Management
  • Manage the corporate insurance program, including general liability, workers’ compensation, auto, and property coverage.
  • Coordinate with insurance brokers and carriers on renewals, coverage analysis, and risk financing strategies.
  • Oversee the claims process from incident reporting through resolution and trend analysis.
  • Maintain accurate insurance documentation and certificates.
Compliance & Training
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, state, and local regulations.
  • Develop and deliver risk management and safety training for field and office employees.
  • Support investigations of incidents, near misses, and claims, recommending corrective actions.
  • Manage all OSHA 300, 300a, 301 forms and reporting requirements
Reporting & Communication
  • Prepare and present risk reports, dashboards, and trend analyses to senior leadership.
  • Communicate findings, mitigation plans, and policy updates to project managers, supervisors, and stakeholders.
  • Prepares reports, minutes, videos, JHAs, and pictures for monthly Steering Committee meetings.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on risk-related decisions.
  • Manages, communicates, and promotes the Safety Reward Program company-wide.
Policy Development
  • Create, update, and enforce the company Injury Illness Prevention Program (IIPP)
  • Create, update, and enforce company risk management and safety policies that correlate with the IIPP.
  • Establish best practices and standardized procedures across all operations.
  • Ensures all safety programs, safety policies, safety practices, and safety procedures are reviewed and updated annually to ensure the company complies with OSHA, State, and Federal guidelines for safety.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Business, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in risk management, preferably within construction or landscape services.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards and environmental regulations.
  • Knowledge of OCIP claims
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Professional certifications (CRM, CPCU, CSP) strongly preferred.
