Job summary

Principal Asset Management is seeking a motivated risk management intern for Summer 2027 in Des Moines, IA. You will identify, assess, and mitigate risks across the firm and may support enterprise risk management or investment risk management depending on needs and your interests.

You will work with risk professionals, help develop risk registers, dashboards and leadership materials, and gain exposure to control partners and internal audit.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate/Graduate degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business, Economics, Actuarial Science
• GPA 3.0
• Coursework in risk management, investments, financial modeling, compliance, or data analytics

Responsibilities

• Assist in risk assessments, control evaluations, and analysis across business operations, enterprise functions, or investment portfolios
• Support development and maintenance of risk registers, dashboards, reporting, and leadership materials
• Research emerging risks, industry trends, and best practices
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support risk mitigation strategies
