ProAssurance specializes in healthcare professional liability, products liability for medical technology and life sciences, legal professional liability, and workers' compensation insurance. This position supports the podiatry and chiropractic segments of our medical professional liability line of business and can be fully remote within the Eastern and Central time zones.

The Risk Management Consultant develops and implements risk management services, including educational programs, to mitigate risk for insureds. They provide risk management advice related to medical professional liability for internal and external customers. The role involves executing traditional and innovative risk management activities, initiatives, and projects to achieve specific line of business goals. Responsibilities include supporting claims, underwriting, data analytics, and developing risk reduction strategies and products for online deployment, helpline interactions, educational activities, assessments, publications, and other services for groups and individual insureds.

What you'll do:

1. 40% - Field and research inquiries from policyholders and other departments regarding professional liability risks, ensuring prompt responses and resolutions. Refer insureds to appropriate internal or third-party experts as needed.
2. 30% - Coordinate and manage action plans based on claims data, loss trends, and risk management trends to develop mitigation programs. Create risk management content for marketing and communication, addressing emergent topics and trends.
3. 15% - Collaborate with marketing, claims, and the PICA medical board on executing, evaluating, and monitoring the Annual Baseline Self-Assessment (ABSA).
4. 10% - Support claims, retention, business development, underwriting, and marketing teams in service of insureds, potential insureds, and professional organizations.
5. 5% - Perform other duties as assigned, including staying current on laws and regulations affecting risk management.
6. Leverage risk expertise and malpractice insurance knowledge to provide a marketing advantage.
7. Demonstrate strong leadership and professionalism while maintaining confidentiality.
8. Support management initiatives through actions and communication.
9. Contribute to the development and monitoring of a risk management budget.
10. Travel up to 20%, including overnight stays.

What we're looking for:

1. Bachelor’s degree in business, nursing, or a healthcare-related field.
2. Clinical background with appropriate designation (RN, LPN).
3. At least five years of risk management experience in healthcare.
4. Risk management certification preferred; knowledge of quality improvement and patient safety required.
5. Ability to develop processes and operational guidelines.
6. Strong research, analytical, and decision-making skills.
7. Ability to manage multiple priorities and produce presentations, content, and educational programs.
8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking.
9. Ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels.
10. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, SharePoint, and Zoom.
