Job summary

CRC Group, a leading independent insurance broker and underwriter, is seeking a Commercial Transportation Underwriter to evaluate, price, and issue coverage under delegated authority. The role emphasizes risk analysis, negotiation, and collaboration with brokers and internal teams to deliver profitable, compliant quotes.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 2+ years of underwriting experience; active licenses or CPCU/AU progress preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in risk management, finance, business administration, or related field.
• Minimum of 2+ years of underwriting or relevant insurance experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of underwriting principles, guidelines and practices.
• Experience in a broker-focused service environment.

Responsibilities

• Analyze risk factors and determine appropriate pricing and coverage within delegated authority.
• Review applications, financial statements, inspection reports, and other relevant documents to assess exposure.
• Apply underwriting guidelines, line of business strategies, and risk appetite frameworks to support sound decision-making.
• Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing with brokers or clients to secure profitable business.
• Collaborate with internal teams such as claims, actuarial, and finance to resolve coverage or policy issues.
• Maintain accurate documentation for all underwriting decisions and ensure compliance with company policies.
• Monitor portfolio performance and identify trends to recommend corrective action when necessary.
• Participate in training and development initiatives to maintain up-to-date knowledge of products, regulations, and market trends.
