Job summary

Highmark Residential in Addison, TX is seeking a Risk and Claims Manager to oversee property, casualty, general liability, and workers' compensation claims, identify exposures, and implement policies to mitigate risk. You will administer the safety program, OSHA reporting, and coordinate with Operations, Legal, and Finance to ensure compliance and timely resolution.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business or related field.
  • 5+ years of property/workers compensation claims management experience.
  • 2+ years supervisory experience.
  • ARM certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee proper reporting of all claims to insurance carriers and owners.
  • Manage workers’ compensation program and OSHA incident reporting.
  • Coordinate changes in carriers, procedures and facilities with properties.
  • Oversee Safety program including monthly education and inspections.
  • Maintain Safety Manual and required documents.
  • Collaborate with Operations on safety program rollouts and loss-control initiatives.
  • Maintain carrier and broker information for fee-managed properties.
  • Assist adjusters with investigations across all insurance lines.
  • Act as liaison between properties, adjusters, and insurers.
  • Collaborate with Legal in defense of claims and in litigation response.
  • Provide quarterly wage reporting for budgeting of workers’ comp premiums.
  • Coordinate annual insurance applications and renewals.
  • Review contracts and notify carriers of changes.
  • Manage vendor insurance credentialing with Operations and Accounting.
  • Ensure OSHA 300 reporting and compliance with state/federal regulations.
  • Mentor and develop Risk Management team.
  • Monitor property inspection reporting via validation.
  • Assist with special projects as directed by General Counsel.

Essential functions include (but are not limited to):
  • Oversee the proper reporting of all claims to the appropriate insurance carriers and/or owners
  • Oversee and manage workers’ compensation program and claims, including proper OSHA incident reporting
  • Notify properties of changes in insurance carriers, procedures and Workers Comp medical facilities
  • Oversee and manage the Safety program including all monthly education, property and equipment inspections
  • Maintain and keep current the Safety Manual and related Safety required documents
  • Collaborate with Operations Dept. on new safety program rollouts
  • Develop and implement loss control programs and procedures in collaboration with Operations Dept.
  • Maintain and keep current the Insurance Carrier, Broker, Owner information for fee-managed properties
  • Ensure that claims files and records are maintained and saved
  • Assist adjusters with claim investigations, all insurance lines
  • Act as a liaison between properties, adjusters, and insurance companies
  • Collaborate with the Legal department in defense of legal claims
  • Coordinate the collection of documents and records for response to litigation
  • Provide quarterly wage reporting to Lockton for estimated variance in Workers' Comp premium for budgeting purposes
  • Complete annual insurance applications and coordinate the collection of necessary information for annual insurance renewals
  • Review contracts and agreements as needed
  • Notify carriers and brokers of any property additions or deletions
  • Manage vendor insurance credentialing program in collaboration with Operations and Accounting Depts.
  • Ensure completion and distribution of annual OSHA 300 reporting
  • Stay abreast of all State, Federal, and OSHA regulations to ensure company compliance
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures as outlined in the Safety Manual
  • Mentor, train and develop Risk Management team to futher their career goals
  • Monitor the completion of property inspection reports via validation reporting
  • Assist with special projects as needed as directed by the General Counsel
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related discipline preferred, or equivalent relevant work & education
  • 5+ years of property/workers compensation insurance claims management experience
  • 2+ years supervisory experience
  • Professional presentation and communication skills, verbal and written
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, including C-Suite
  • Average proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word
  • Excellent organizational, planning, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • YARDI/Vendor Shield experience a plus
  • Prior experience in multi-family property management environment a plus
  • Publick speaking skills a plus (to give presentations/webinars for risk/safety training)

Certification: ARM certification preferred

Physical Requirements:
  • Occasional walking of properties for risk audit purposes
  • Travel by automobile or airplane
  • Frequent writing and typing on computer, utilize copier
  • Occasional lifting of file boxes, up to 25 lbs.
  • Must have normal range of speech, vision and hearing
