Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Traffic Engineer in Training to join our roadways team in Texas. You will work with project managers on planning and development of traffic engineering projects, assisting with signing, pavement markings, signals, lighting and ITS designs for highways and light rail.

This role provides hands-on experience, collaboration across groups, and growth toward your EIT certification and professional licensure.

Qualifications

• BSCE minimum.
• EIT in Texas or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Internship or engineering experience is a plus.
• Basic experience using Microstation, AutoCAD and any other relevant design software; OpenRoads Designer preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Use knowledge of the general concepts of civil, transportation, and traffic engineering.
• Assist in the development and design of traffic engineering projects.
• Assist in preparing project plans and drawings for various highway and roadway traffic projects.
• Perform traffic signal designs, signal timing, ITS planning and design, signing and pavement marking, illumination, roadway, sidewalk, and ADA ramp planning and design, and other related traffic/transportation engineering work.
• Assist in the preparation of plans and reports for relevant project design elements under the guidance and supervision of a licensed professional engineer.
• Responsible for preparing and coordinating technical activities on assigned projects.
• Conduct basic interpretations of drawings, codes, and other similar materials
