Job summary

North Shore Community College is seeking an Academic Counselor for the RISE Program to provide wraparound advising for marginalized student groups. The role supports 175–200 students with academic, personal, career, and transfer goals, across NSCC campuses and remote days as needed.

The position is 12-month, MCCC Unit Professional, Grade 5, with anticipated starting salary of $73,412 to $75,000 and full-time benefits. Evening/weekend hours may be required; sponsorship for visas is not provided.

Qualifications

• Master's degree with 3 years' experience in college admissions, academic advisement, career development, or program management.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to use electronic platforms to communicate and evaluate students.
• Evening and Saturday hours may be required.
• Ability to commute to NSCC campuses for meetings and events.

Responsibilities

• Provide holistic academic counseling and guided pathways for 175-200 students in the RISE cohort.
• Review placement information and help students meet proficiency requirements.
• Develop academic plans in Navigate to align with goals and timelines.
• Conduct outreach and advising at events, workshops, and through various channels.
• Support transfer advising and connect students with articulation agreements and resources.
