Job summary

Alabama Power is seeking a Transmission Right-of-Way Specialist to manage rights-of-way in the Birmingham TMC region. You will review encroachments, coordinate with internal teams, and educate stakeholders on proper ROW use to maintain reliable transmission.

The role requires reading easements, drafting documents, and strong negotiation skills. Travel within the TMC area and potentially statewide may be required.

Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent field experience accepted.
  • Must understand property rights, transmission concepts, and maintenance basics.
  • Experience reading easements, deeds and surveys required or preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review, approve and permit encroachments per company policies.
  • Detect, remove, and prevent unauthorized encroachments in rights-of-way.
  • Coordinate with TMC, Construction and Long Haul Fiber teams on property rights.
  • Educate the public on transmission right-of-way uses and build relationships with stakeholders.
  • Review aerial patrols, inspect field sites for unpermitted ROW usage.
  • Prepare encroachment agreements and ensure designs meet guidelines.
  • Track projects in departmental database and document approvals.
  • Support storm response and system restoration as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety guidelines and process quitclaims.
