Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking an entry-level Right of Way Agent Trainee in our Charlotte, North Carolina office. No prior right‑of‑way experience is required, and license status is a key eligibility factor for advancement.

You will learn with seasoned professionals across North Carolina on transportation, utility, water, and infrastructure projects, developing real estate, negotiation, and project coordination skills.

Qualifications

• No prior right-of-way experience required.
• Active North Carolina Real Estate Broker License required.
• Notary Public commission preferred but not required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Shadow experienced acquisition agents to learn procedures.
• Assist with property research, ownership verification, and title review.
• Prepare acquisition documents, easement agreements, deeds, and project correspondence.
• Communicate project impacts and requirements to property owners.
• Assist with negotiations for easements and acquisitions.
• Coordinate with surveyors, engineers, appraisers, attorneys, utilities, and agencies.
• Track parcel acquisition progress and maintain records.
• Perform administrative and project support tasks as needed.
• Develop skills to independently manage parcel assignments and negotiations.
