Job summary

TYLin in Falmouth, ME is seeking a Title Specialist to support transportation-related right-of-way services within the Roads + Highways Sector. You will research, abstract, and document property ownership, easements, and ROW limits with accuracy and clear communication.

Responsibilities include preparing title abstracts, ownership summaries, documentation, and acquisition materials; coordinating with project teams and stakeholders; and drafting closing-related documents as needed.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in title research, title abstraction, right-of-way, real estate, paralegal, legal support, survey support, or closely related field preferred.
• Knowledge of state and federal statutes, regulations, case law, and client procedures related to property acquisition, title, right-of-way, and public infrastructure projects.
• Ability to understand, explain, and interpret statutes, regulations, policies, procedures, and title findings.
• Ability to communicate effectively, write clearly, and present findings in a professional manner.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work with limited supervision.
• Experience with MaineDOT, Maine Turnpike Authority, or other public infrastructure right-of-way projects is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Research, analyze, and evaluate complex legal/public record materials to support title abstraction and ROW project documentation.
• Abstract complex recorded instruments and property records to compile ownership/easement/right-of-way history.
• Identify current owners, lienholders, and other parties requiring notice or compensation.
• Interpret and explain applicable laws and ROW requirements for project decision-making.
• Prepare title abstracts, ownership summaries, parcel files, and related reports.
• Draft closing/acquisition documents (deeds, easements, releases, notices) as needed.
• Coordinate with project managers, attorneys, clients, and stakeholders to obtain information and resolve issues.
• Attend project/administrative meetings to provide title research support.
