Job description

Right of Way Agent - New York Metropolitan area

ORC is seeking a full-time, exempt Right of Way Agent to work on projects in the New York Metropolitan area. The candidate must reside in the region and will primarily work at the ORC office in Manhattan, with some remote work possible depending on field activities and office needs. Expenses and mileage are reimbursed based on travel requirements.

The Right Work. The Right People. The Right Culture.

Right of Way is where infrastructure meets innovation—shaping roads, utilities, and communities for the future. At ORC, we offer more than a job—we offer purpose, stability, and growth. Join a team that values collaboration, respects your work-life balance, and empowers you to make a lasting impact!

What you will be doing:

You will provide relocation assistance services in accordance with the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Policies Act of 1970 and project guidelines. Responsibilities include preparing real estate documents, conducting property research, communicating with property owners, and performing administrative tasks such as preparing legal documents, reports, and correspondence. Future duties may involve property acquisition and supporting projects in NYC boroughs and surrounding areas.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Manages deadlines and prioritizes effectively.
  • Is responsible and organized.
  • Is approachable and communicates well with diverse individuals.
  • Has strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Is a problem solver with attention to detail and negotiation skills.
  • Works independently and as part of a team.

What we are offering:

  • Health, dental, and vision benefits
  • 401K and disability coverage
  • PTO, sick leave, and holidays
  • Tuition reimbursement and professional training
  • Wellness support through Calm Membership
  • Recognition programs, growth opportunities, and a family-friendly environment
  • Stable employment

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least one year of experience in relocations and acquisitions under structured programs
  • Experience with the Uniform Relocation Act
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Dropbox
  • Smartphone (iOS or Android) to access ORC systems
  • Valid Driver’s License

Note: Per diem and relocation assistance are not provided.

ORC is a leading right-of-way acquisition firm involved in infrastructure projects including electric transmission, pipelines, fiber optics, and water systems, with a focus on renewable energy initiatives like wind and solar.

Employees must avoid conflicts of interest and activities that impair objectivity, including performing services for clients during nonworking hours that overlap with ORC's work, such as real estate sales.

Physical Requirements: Proficiency in English, ability to communicate clearly, repetitive hand movements due to computer use, long hours at a computer screen, ability to move within the office, and occasional outdoor travel to meet clients or vendors, sometimes in varied weather conditions.
