Job summary

Bigge Crane and Rigging Co. is seeking a Yard Assistant in Houston, TX. You will inspect rigging equipment, plan lifts, and attach loads using slings, chains, shackles, hooks, and cables.

You’ll communicate with operators via hand signals to ensure precise positioning and safety during lifts. The role requires knowledge of rigging, teamwork, and the ability to work at heights, with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Know rigging equipment and capacities.
• Good teamwork and clear communication abilities.
• Familiar with lift planning and equipment choice.
• Comfortable working at heights and following safety rules.
• Able to perform basic arithmetic for lift planning.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and maintain rigging equipment.
• Assist in lift planning considering load and capacity.
• Attach loads with slings, chains, shackles, hooks, cables.
• Guide loads using ropes during lifting operations.
• Serve as safety observer during lifts and use hand signals.
• Position and stabilize loads; help connect/disconnect rigs.
• Operate forklifts, cranes, and trailers to move crane parts.
