Job summary

Lee Industrial Contracting is seeking an Estimator/Project Manager in Michigan to join our team. This flexible role combines estimating and project management from bid through completion.

You will review site conditions, prepare take-offs, manage subcontractors, and support field teams while upholding Safety and quality. Travel up to 25% is expected; OSHA certs are a plus, and strong communication and organization are essential.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in the rigging and/or millwright trade.
  • Travel to both locally and out of state approximately 25% of the time.
  • Project coordination experience.
  • Good communication and organizational skills will be essential.
  • Experience with estimating software, Microsoft Suite, and MS Project.
  • OSHA 30 or 510 certifications are a plus.
  • The ability to read and understand single line drawings, building blueprints, and specifications.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Be able to work in a fast paced, team environment.
  • Be able to manage time well.
  • To be accountable to yourself and your co-workers.

Responsibilities

  • Attend site visits to review site conditions and develop an accurate scope of work.
  • Prepare detailed labor and material take-offs using estimating methods.
  • Review and submit supplier, distributor & subcontractor proposals to include in the bid package.
  • Participate in the process of finalizing a complete scope of work in combination with other trade estimators and the Sales Department for submission to clients.
  • Follow up on requested revisions with the Sales Department and suppliers during the proposal period.
  • Ensure all safety protocols are identified and communicated to the field.
  • Attend site visits to review the progress of the project.
  • Manage the requirements for equipment, material and manpower for assigned projects.
  • Attend project meetings and site reviews.
  • Upon award of contracts, review pricing and assist with selecting compliant vendors and subcontractors for the purpose of issuing purchase orders, apply for required permits, review the project details, and estimates with the field supervisor prior to the start date.
  • Ensure accurate and complete information regarding the project requirements are communicated to field personnel assigned to the project on a daily basis through both verbally and in writing using the job ticket system.
  • Determine the scope of change orders as the project progresses using appropriate estimating methods.
  • Assist with Billing and invoice preparation and payment assistance when required.
  • May be required to be on-site depending on customer/project requirements.
  • Attend safety, training, sales, strategy, and other meetings as required.

The Estimator/Project Manager role is a flexible position that includes both estimating and project management responsibilities. Depending on company needs, you may manage projects from bid through completion, estimate projects that get assigned to other project managers, or focus primarily on project execution. The mix of estimating and project management duties will vary based on workload, project demands, and business priorities.
