Job summary

Lee Industrial Contracting seeks skilled riggers to join our Pontiac, MI operations. You will follow foreman directions, assist with load handling, and coordinate with teammates on diverse construction projects.

Reading blueprints and adhering to safety protocols are essential as you support lifting and rigging activities in constrained environments. Ideal candidates will have rigging experience, ability to train apprentices, and a strong safety mindset.

Qualifications

  • Basic rigging theory and practice.
  • Ability to interpret rigging plans and load plans.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and lift plans.
  • Strong safety mindset and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lead/train apprentices and work with a team.

Responsibilities

  • Follow instructions from foreman and supervisors to complete tasks efficiently.
  • Lead and train apprentices where needed.
  • Support and work with team on various projects of different scales.
  • Move loads and equipment according to rigging plan with appropriate gear.
  • Select rigging components and develop basic rigging procedures for loads.
  • Read and interpret design layouts, blueprints, and lift plans.
  • Control movement of heavy equipment through restricted spaces.
  • Signal or direct workers to ensure safety of crew and materials.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow instructions fromforemanand supervisors to ensure tasks are completed efficiently

  • Moveloads and equipment according to rigging plan withappropriate riggingequipment
  • Selectappropriate riggingcomponents and develop basic rigging procedures for general load handling activities
  • Read and interpretdesign layouts, blueprints, and lift plans
  • Control movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings
  • Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads,toensuresafetyof workers and materials.
  • Keep the job site clean and well-organized
  • Handle the loading and unloading of materials, tools, and equipment
  • Ensure attention to detail and follow safety standards

Requirements:

  • Basic math and geometryknowledge
  • Attaching rigging to a load based upon a pre-planned method
  • Estimate the weight and center-of-gravity of a load
  • Identifysuitable riggingpoints and hardwarefor the load to be handled
  • Select the rated riggingcomponentsbased on itsanticipatedtension
  • Analyze and understand the effects of angles on rigging components
  • Understand load handling equipment dynamics and the associated hazards
  • Understand the care, use, inspection, and operation of equipment common to bull rigging activities, such as, but not limited to, winches, rigging blocks, hand chain hoists, lever hoists, jacks, and industrial rollers
  • Ability to work effectively with all personality types
  • Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions
  • Self-directed and can work independently
  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred Requirements:

  • Read and interpret blueprints
  • Stick (Arc) welding
  • Lock-out – Tag-out

Equipment/toolexperience:

  • Aerial – lift Operation – boom & Scissor
  • Forklift Operation – Material handling up to 140,000#
  • Forklift Operation – Material handling more than 140,000# (tri-lifter)
  • Gantry (Preferred)
  • Trailer loading and securing of material

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to ascend/descend ladders, scaffolds, stairs, and/oroperatescissor/boom lifts while working at height.
  • Work in permit & non-permit required confined spaces and in proximity to loud equipment.
  • Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move up to 50 pounds regularly/occasionally
  • Must be able to respond quickly to auditory alarms, visual signals, or other effective means to communicate hazards
  • Must be able to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to work in cold/hotenvironments.
  • Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.
