Job summary

Lee Industrial Contracting, located in Michigan, is seeking an experienced estimator with a strong background in construction take-offs and bid preparation. The role involves site visits, detailing labor/material take-offs, and reviewing supplier proposals for bids.

You will collaborate with the Sales team to finalize project scopes, ensure accuracy of estimates, and support project execution from bid through award. Travel is expected ~25% with on-site assignments as needed.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in the relevant trade.
• Travel locally and out of state ~25%.
• Experience with estimating software, MS Word, MS Excel and MS Project.
• OSHA 30 or 510 certifications are a plus.
• Ability to read and understand single line drawings, building blueprints, and specifications.
• Willingness to learn and be accountable.
• Be able to work in a fast paced, team environment.

Responsibilities

• Visit job sites to review site conditions and develop an accurate scope of work.
• Prepare detailed labor and material take-offs using estimating methods.
• Review and submit supplier, distributor & subcontractor proposals for bid packages.
• Collaborate with Sales on finalizing an complete scope of work for client bids.

• Attend site visits to review site conditions and develop an accurate scope of work.
• Prepare detailed labor and material take-offs using estimating methods.
• Review and submit supplier, distributor & subcontractor proposals to include in the bid package.
• Participate in the process of finalizing a complete scope of work in combination with other trade estimators and the Sales Department for submission to clients.
• Follow up on requested revisions with the Sales Department and suppliers during the proposal period.

Project Management Responsibilities Include:

• Ensure all safety protocols are identified and communicated to the field.
• Attend site visits to review the progress of the project.
• Manage the requirements for material, equipment and manpower for assigned projects.
• Attend project meetings and site reviews.
• Upon award of contracts, review pricing and assist with selecting compliant vendors and subcontractors for the purpose of issuing purchase orders, apply for required permits, review the project details and estimates with the field supervisor prior to the start date.
• Ensure accurate and complete information regarding the project requirements are communicated to field personnel assigned to the project on a daily basis through both verbally and in writing using the job ticket system.
• Determine the scope of change orders as the project progresses using appropriate estimating methods
• Assist with Billing and invoice preparation and payment assistance when required.
• May be required to be on-site depending on customer/project requirements.
• Attend safety, training, sales, strategy and other meetings as required.

Requirements:

• 7+ years of experience in the relevant trade
• Travel both locally and out of state approximately 25% of the time
• Good communication and organization skills will be essential.
• Experience with estimating software, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and MS Project
• OSHA 30 or 510 certifications are a plus
• The ability to read and understand single line drawings, building blueprints, and specifications.
