Job summary

Lee Industrial Contracting in Pontiac, MI is seeking an experienced Estimator/Project Manager to lead estimating efforts and manage project execution for mechanical trades, from site assessment to bid package submission.

Responsibilities include reviewing site conditions, preparing detailed takeoffs, evaluating supplier and subcontractor proposals, coordinating with Sales to finalize scopes, and ensuring safety and timely delivery on each project. Travel around 25% may be required.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in the mechanical trade.
  • 3+ years if estimating experience.
  • Michigan Mechanical Contractor’s License beneficial.
  • Travel both locally and out of state approximately 25% of the time.
  • Project coordination experience.
  • Good communication and organization skills will be essential.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Procore beneficial.
  • OSHA 30 or 510 certifications are beneficial.
  • Ability to read and understand single line drawings, building blueprints, and specifications.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Be able to work in a fast paced, team environment.
  • Be able to manage time well.
  • To be accountable to yourself and your co-workers.

Responsibilities

  • Attend site visits to review site conditions and develop an accurate scope of work.
  • Prepare detailed labor and material take-offs using estimating methods.
  • Review and submit supplier, distributor & subcontractor proposals to include in the bid package.
  • Participate in the process of finalizing a complete scope of work in combination with other trade estimators and the Sales Department for submission to clients.
  • Follow up on requested revisions with the Sales Department and suppliers during the proposal period.
  • Ensure all safety protocols are identified and communicated to the field.
  • Attend site visits to review the progress of the project.
  • Manage the requirements for material, equipment and manpower for assigned projects.
  • Attend project meetings and site reviews.
  • Upon award of contracts, review pricing and assist with selecting compliant vendors and subcontractors for the purpose of issuing purchase orders, apply for required permits, review the project details and estimates with the field supervisor prior to the start date.
  • Ensure accurate and complete information regarding the project requirements are communicated to field personnel assigned to the project on a daily basis through both verbally and in writing using the job ticket system.
  • Determine the scope of change orders as the project progresses using appropriate estimating methods.
  • Assist with Billing and invoice preparation and payment assistance when required.
  • May be required to be on-site depending on customer/project requirements.
  • Attend safety, training, sales, strategy and other meetings as required.
