Job summary

Zoo Atlanta is seeking a part-time Rides Attendant II to ensure safe, enjoyable experiences on all rides and attractions. You will assist guests, operate the Zoo train, and facilitate rope course activities while upholding safety protocols and teamwork.

Ideal candidates are safety-minded, customer-focused, and able to work weekends. Training will be provided, and multi-lingual abilities are a plus for guest interactions.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate strong customer service skills and safety awareness.
• Ability to stay calm and attentive while guiding guests on rides.
• Excellent stamina for standing and moving for long periods.
• Multilingual abilities are a plus to assist diverse guests.

Responsibilities

• Operate all rides and attractions safely (Zoo train, Wild Explorer, Treetop Trail and Treetop Tykes).
• Maintain highest safety standards and follow all protocols.
• Assist guests with harness fitting and adjustments.
• Attend mandatory trainings and meetings.
• Maintain positive relationships with Zoo Atlanta teammates.
• Support Zoo Atlanta’s Vision, Mission, and Values.
• Possibly perform other duties as assigned by management.
• Pass practical and written tests from the ropes course provider.

Job Title: Rides Attendant II

Department:Rides

Reports to: Rides and Attractions Manager

FLSA Status:Non-Exempt

Job Status: Part-time

Job Purpose: To provide a safe and enjoyable experience to Zoo Atlanta’s Members and guests on all rides and attractions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Must be able to safely and efficiently operate all rides and attractions including the Zoo train, Wild Explorer (the 360° virtual reality experience) and Treetop Trail and Treetop Tykes (ropes courses)
• Responsible for maintaining the highest level of safety in the work area by complying with all safety protocols and procedures
• Outfit participants in climbing harnesses and make the needed adjustments to fit their body (Treetop attractions/ropes courses)
• Attend mandatory training and meetings
• Maintain positive working relationships and communication with all Zoo Atlanta teammates
• Must be willing to support Zoo Atlanta’s Vision, Mission, and Values
• Perform any other miscellaneous projects/assignment assigned by Zoo Atlanta’s management team
• Must pass practical and written tests from RCI (the company who created our ropes courses)

Qualifications:

• Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Must have weekend availability (Saturday and Sunday)
• Must be comfortable working 30+ feet in the air (Treetop Trail)
• 16 years or older
• Ability to understand and use a harness properly (Zoo Atlanta will provide this training)
• Comfortable being in close proximity to people of all ages and genders
• Must be friendly, outgoing and approachable
• Must be able to multi-task and pay close attention to details
• Zoo Atlanta is open to the public 363 days out of the year; therefore, all positions at Zoo Atlanta may require employees to work some weekends, holidays and evenings
• Multi-lingual a plus

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to bend, stoop, climb and stand for long periods of time.
• Must be able to reach the overhead track on the Treetop attractions.
• Must be able to push, pull and lift 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

• Most work will be outdoors in all kinds of weather
• Ability to work with large groups
• Ability to work with children of all ages
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
