Job summary

Utah's Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City, UT, seeks a full-time maintenance technician for skilled mechanical and technical upkeep of train locomotives, passenger coaches, rail systems, carousel components and other mechanical work ensuring safe, continuous operations.

Expect to troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, perform preventative maintenance on engines, drivetrains, braking, electrical controls, and structures; maintain logs, inventory, and site records; train ride operators and support broader

Qualifications

• Gas engine repairs experience.
• Small equipment repairs knowledge.
• Brakes and minor electrical repairs knowledge.
• Ability to work in a team and independently.
• Must have a valid Utah driver license.
• Proficient with PCs, Word and Excel; able to use work order software.

Responsibilities

• Review daily assignments with Rides Maintenance Foreman.
• Maintain operation of carousel train, track, signals, and depot per scheduled maintenance.
• Keep grounds along right-of-way clean and safe.
• Maintain detailed maintenance logs, fuel use, service entries, and parts records.
• Train ride operators on safety and procedures.
• Assist with other Facilities maintenance tasks as needed.
• Log hours and use a work order system to track work.
• Perform ice and snow removal and participate in on-call rotation.
