Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required
• RHIT or CCS certification required
• AHIMA certification required
• 1 year of medical record coding experience
• Excellent computer and typing skills
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Anatomy and physiology knowledge
• Ability to read handwriting and work independently
• Detail oriented and able to handle stress
• Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity
• Normal vision/hearing; color vision not required
• Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds

Responsibilities

• Codes all diagnoses and procedures using ICD-9-CM and CPT nomenclatures
• Monitors ER/outpatient unbilled reports to ensure timely coding
• Reviews records for medical necessity and queries physicians as needed
• Maintains confidentiality with access to patient health information
